Michael Walfish

Co-founder and CEO at Walrus Security

Michael Walfish has a long and varied work experience. In 2018, they co-founded and became the CEO of Walrus Security. Prior to that, they were a professor in the Computer Science Department at New York University's Courant Institute from 2013 to 2018, where they conducted research in applied cryptography, security, systems, and networking. From 2009 to 2013, they were an Associate Professor at New York University, and before that, an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Austin from 2009 to 2013. Michael was also a Senior Research Associate at UCL from 2008 to 2009 and a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University from 2007 to 2008. Michael's earliest work experience was as a Software Engineer at Digital Fountain, Inc. from 1999 to 2007.

Michael Walfish obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Computer Science from Harvard University between 1994 and 1998. Michael then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which they completed in 2007.
