David Ford

David is a Senior Principal and Managing Director in the Diagnostics Group at Walter P Moore with more than 20 years of consulting and forensic engineering experience. He also serves as the firmwide leader of the Enclosure Diagnostics Practice.

He has extensive experience in building enclosure consulting and project management on new and existing buildings across North America. His work includes façade assessment and restoration, building enclosure commissioning and third-party review, roofing condition assessment and replacement, moisture infiltration evaluation and repair, and building enclosure sustainable design. David also has expertise in structural condition assessments, parking garage restoration, concrete elevation and repair, and capital asset management planning.

David is a licensed engineer in seven U.S. states and one province in Canada. He is a Registered Roof Consultant and Registered Waterproofing Consultant, which are certifications that require extensive knowledge of building enclosure systems. David is a member of ASCE, ASTM, BEC, BETEC, ICRI, IIBEC, and SWRI. He holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University.

Co-Chair for Walter P Moore’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council, David balances his career and professional growth with community volunteer roles focused on improving the lives of Black youth in the Kansas City metro. He has served as a coach for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program. He played an influential role as Mentoring Program Chair for several years for the 100 Black Men of Greater Kansas City as well as serving on the board of Wildwood Outdoor Education Center, a not-for-profit camp focused on providing opportunities for low-income youth to experience the joys of STEM in the outdoors.
