Josh Combs

Josh Combs has a diverse work experience in the biotechnology and manufacturing industries. Josh currently holds the position of Vice President of Operations at Watchmaker Genomics since October 2023. Prior to that, they served as Senior Director of Manufacturing and Director of Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) at Smith & Nephew from August 2017 to October 2023.

Before joining Smith & Nephew, Josh worked at XBiotech USA Inc. for seven years, where they held roles of Vice President of Manufacturing, Director of Manufacturing, and Senior Scientist. In these positions, they oversaw all aspects of drug substance and drug product manufacturing, managed teams, and led process development efforts for XBiotech's True Human monoclonal antibody platform.

Earlier in their career, Josh worked as a Research Scientist in Process Development at the Cancer Research Institute of Scott and White from March 2008 to April 2010. In this role, they developed purification schemes for biologics, set up a bacterial cGMP facility, and served as the lead scientist for expression and purification of biologics.

Josh Combs received their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, General from Tarleton State University from 1998 to 2001. Josh then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology/Biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin from 2002 to 2007.
