Derek Wang is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, with an expected graduation in 2030. They have held various roles in robotics, including positions as an Autonomy Developer and Embedded Flight Software Engineer at the Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group and as an Autonomous Self Driving Software Engineer at WATonomous. Derek has also served as President and Software Executive for the Bayview Robotics Club, and taught youth badminton at multiple community centers in Richmond Hill from 2024 to 2025. Their prior experience includes designing and building robots for the FIRST Tech Challenge at Dr X Academy of Robotics and Coding, where they were invited to the 2022 FTC Worlds.
