Boris Monahov

Boris Monahov has worked in the battery industry since 1996. In 1996, they began working as an Associate Professor at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia, Bulgaria. During this time, they managed the lead-acid battery section of an international project funded by the European Union, developed a model of the processes of oxygen recombination in valve-regulated batteries, and conducted combined polarization and gassing rate tests.

In 2004, Boris Monahov joined Firefly Energy as a Senior Electrochemist, where they were responsible for all electrochemical aspects of plate and cell design, testing, and material studies. In 2010, they became the Program Manager of the Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC), a technical program of the International Lead Association (ILA). In this role, they managed the three-year technical research programs on advancing lead batteries and organized the discussion on the results.

In 2019, Boris Monahov joined Monks Battery Consultants as a Consultant, lead-acid battery science and technology. Boris also joined WaveTech Group Inc. as their Chief Scientific Officer. In this role, they work on exciting R&D aspects of lead batteries from Europe or from the USA - depending on pandemic restrictions.

Boris Monahov received their PhD from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in 1994 in the field of Electrochemical Power Sources. Boris also obtained their MSc from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski in 1980, specializing in Solid State Physics.
