Sean Dunn

Chief Architect at Wave

Sean Dunn has extensive experience in the technology and gaming industry. Their most recent role was as the Chief Architect at Wave, where they ensured the well-designed implementation of technology and architecture while pushing virtual entertainment capabilities through innovation. Prior to that, they served as the CTO at Wave from February 2017 to May 2020.

Before joining Wave, Sean worked at BattleCry Studios/Zenimax as a Senior Client Engineer from September 2014 to February 2017. Sean also held the position of Senior Programmer at KingsIsle Entertainment from March 2013 to August 2014.

From March 2011 to January 2013, Sean worked at Spacetime Studios, Inc. as a Senior Programmer, where they contributed to the development and shipment of MMO titles such as Star Legends, Dark Legends, and Arcane Legends. In addition to their programming work, they also wrote and produced music for Spacetime titles.

Sean has also had experience at Microsoft Live Labs, where they served as a Software Development Engineer 2 from December 2006 to May 2008. Sean worked on high-profile games such as Crackdown, Shadowrun, Gears of War, SceneIt, and Too Human, performing API integration, runtime optimization, and security threat analysis and mitigation.

Prior to Microsoft Live Labs, Sean worked at NCSoft as a Software Engineer in 2006. During this time, they worked on the MMO title Dungeon Runners, where they focused on 3D graphics and audio programming.

Before their time at NCSoft, Sean worked at Troublemaker Studios as a Technical Supervisor, where they solved technical problems for the preproduction team and developed and maintained the internal digital effects pipeline.

Sean began their career at Microsoft in 2000 at the Digital Anvil studio, a part of Microsoft Game Studios. Sean served as a Software Development Engineer and was involved in the development of the top-selling Xbox game Brute Force. Sean also developed and maintained shared art tools for the studio, working closely with artists and designers to improve the game data pipeline.

In 1999, Sean worked as a Tools Programmer at Digital Anvil.
