Patrick O'Brien has a diverse work experience. Patrick started off as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Trinity College Dublin in 2012, where they focused on developing nickel oxide materials for electrochemical water splitting and pH sensors. Patrick then moved on to the University of Wollongong, where they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant and investigated the use of gellan gum-MWCNT hydrogel materials for bionics applications. In 2016, they joined Voxpro as a User Safety Specialist, where they assisted customers with account and payment issues for Stripe. Their most recent role was as a Senior Full-Stack Developer at Wayleadr, a technology company that connects smart vehicles and buildings. At Wayleadr, they played a key role in solving employee parking and transportation issues for companies worldwide.

Patrick O'Brien obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Chemistry of Advanced Materials from Trinity College Dublin, which they completed from 2009 to 2013. Following this, they pursued a Master's Degree in MSc. Chemistry (Research) at University College Cork from 2013 to 2016. Later, in 2017, Patrick attended Dublin Business School and completed a Higher Diploma in Science in Computing (Software Development) for a year.
