Aaron Baum

Healthcare Analytics & Economics Lead at Waymark

Aaron Baum is currently the Healthcare Analytics & Economics Lead at Waymark. Prior to this, they were an assistant professor and principal economist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from May 2016 to January 2022. Aaron's research group studied the organization and delivery of primary care, value-based payment models, quality of care, population health, and global health, using econometric and statistical learning methods. Aaron is also a faculty affiliate of the Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care, a visiting fellow of the Stanford University School of Medicine, and a research affiliate of the Veterans Health Administration. Some of their selected publications include "Primary Care Physicians and Spending on Low-Value Care" in the Annals of Internal Medicine and "Association of Geographic Differences in Prevalence of Uncontrolled Chronic Conditions With Changes in Individuals’ Likelihood of Uncontrolled Chronic Conditions" in JAMA.

Aaron Baum received their B.S. in mathematics from the University of Chicago, and then went on to earn their Ph.D. in mathematics from Columbia University in the City of New York.
