Ajay Joshi

Ajay Joshi is a highly experienced professional in the field of computer science and electrical engineering, currently serving as the Head of Routing Navigation at Waymo since January 2017. In this role, Ajay leads a team focused on navigation and ETA prediction for self-driving cars, ensuring optimal routing and safe interactions with other road users. Prior to Waymo, Ajay held the position of Senior Software Engineer at Google from September 2011 to December 2016, where responsibilities included the development of core search ranking algorithms, spam detection techniques, and machine learning algorithms for app recommendations. Ajay's early career involved internships at Fuji-Xerox Palo Alto Labs and Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs, focusing on machine learning, image representation, and efficient image classification methods. Academic credentials include a PhD in Computer Science and an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, as well as a Bachelor of Engineering in Instrumentation and Control from Govt. College of Engineering, Pune.
