Dehao Chen

Dehao Chen is a skilled computer scientist with extensive experience in software engineering and optimization. Currently serving as a Team Lead Manager at Waymo since May 2021, Dehao Chen leads the Waymo Compute Software team, focusing on hardware/software codesign, timing optimizations, machine learning performance, and system software tools. Prior to this role, Dehao Chen worked at Google from July 2011 to May 2021 as a Senior Staff Software Engineer, specializing in compiler optimization and machine learning performance. Dehao Chen began the career at Google with graduate internships in 2008 and early 2010, and held a position as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where the research focused on distributed-memory programming with shared memory. Dehao Chen earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Tsinghua University, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
