Hamilton Shepard is an accomplished optical engineer with extensive experience in leading teams and developing advanced optical technologies. Currently serving as the Optics Area Lead at Waymo since July 2016, Hamilton oversees a team of Optical Engineers and Physicists focused on creating top-tier lidars and cameras for autonomous vehicles. Previous roles include Senior Optical Engineer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Lead Optical Systems Engineer at FLIR Systems, and Senior Optical Engineer at Raytheon Missile Systems. Hamilton holds a Ph.D. in Optical Science from the University of Arizona, obtained between 2002 and 2009.
