Jason Watson is an experienced optical engineer with a robust background in medical technology and optical systems development. Currently serving as an Optical Engineer at Waymo since August 2018, Jason previously held the position of Sr. Manager of Imaging at Intuitive Surgical, where leadership was provided to develop an articulating endoscope for the da Vinci SP surgical robot. Earlier roles include Director of Engineering for Electro-Optical Systems at Voyage Medical, where a project was led to develop RF Generators and Irrigation Pumps, and Engineering Manager at Coherent, Inc., responsible for optical systems development for laser diodes. Additional experience includes roles at Novalux as Project Manager for partner programs and at VISX, Inc. as a Staff Research Scientist, focusing on advanced wavefront diagnostics. Jason Watson holds a Ph.D. and Master’s degree in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona.
