Kanika Sachdev is a highly experienced Staff Hardware Design Engineer at Waymo, where since April 2018, responsibilities have included leading the long-range lidar technical team within the 5th generation autonomous driving system, collaborating with various engineering disciplines to enhance lidar capabilities against challenging weather conditions. Prior roles at Waymo involved significant contributions to the development of lidar technology for self-driving cars, encompassing physical modeling, characterization, and algorithm development. Before joining Waymo, Kanika served as a Lederman Postdoctoral Fellow at Fermilab, leading the data quality group for the NOvA experiment and overseeing a team of researchers in the development of quality metrics for complex detector data. Kanika holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of Mumbai.
