Mike Curtiss

Mike Curtiss is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in leading technical teams and developing innovative software solutions. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Waymo since December 2019, Mike co-leads the onboard Planner Infrastructure team, concentrating on enhancing the performance, speed, and reliability of software and machine learning models for self-driving cars. Prior to this, Mike held a Senior Staff Software Engineer position at Google, where responsibilities included advising early-stage AI startups and leading the Cloud Spanner team. As CTO at Timeful, a startup acquired by Google, Mike focused on optimizing time management through behavioral research and machine learning. Earlier career milestones include technical leadership roles at Facebook and Google and a software engineering internship at Microsoft. Mike holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Computer Engineering and Computer Science from Case Western Reserve University, with a focus on machine learning and robotics.
