Peter Gao

Peter Gao is a Software Engineer at Waymo since 2018, contributing to the planner team. Prior to this role, Peter worked at Nefeli Networks, Inc. from 2017 to 2018, focusing on packet tracing subsystems for Network Function Virtualization platforms. Peter's earlier experience includes internships at Microsoft between 2011 and 2014, where significant projects involved implementing a query engine for network packet streams, analyzing traffic and latency traces, and designing a debugging framework for Windows Presentation Foundation. Peter holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor of Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, with an exchange program at Rice University.
