Shawn Chen

Shawn Chen is currently the Perception and AI Manager at Waymo, where they focus on the perception system for self-driving cars, integrating data from lidar, cameras, and radar to enhance vehicle recognition in complex environments. Additionally, Shawn collaborates with Google DeepMind to leverage Transformers and reinforcement learning in autonomous driving. Previously, as a senior software engineer and technical lead at Google, they improved computer vision and 3D map processing algorithms for Google Street View. At Nuance Communications, Shawn developed speech recognition and audio processing algorithms, contributing to the commercialization of intelligent voice technologies. Shawn is pursuing a Master's degree at Washington State University Vancouver.
