Christen Steele is a Customer Success Manager at WayUp. Christen previously served as the Director of Career Services for the College of Computing at Georgia Tech from May 2017 to August 2021. In this role, Christen was responsible for connecting hiring needs to computing talent and faculty across all disciplines. Christen also oversaw the production of over 250 career events per year, including four career fairs annually.
In addition to their event coordination duties, Christen also developed computing-specific career development content and resource guides for students within the College of Computing. Christen managed a team of career advisors for on-campus and online students, while also converting first-year seminar material for graduating seniors to prepare for early career employment.
Christen is experienced in corporate relations and has created 60+ employer recruitment partnerships with a diverse group of employers and industries that aligned with faculty research strengths. Christen has also doubled partners in the first year and increased an additional 30% over additional 3-year span. Pre-Covid, they collaborated with development officers to secure contracts with employers totaling $1.5 million in funds to the College of Computing annually.
Christen is passionate about diversity and inclusion initiatives for employers and alumni to support under-served/under-represented students in the technology sector to increase DEI recruiting goals while opening the door for students to access the same opportunities as their peers.
Christen Steele has a BA in International & Area Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MSW in Social Work-Organizations & Communities from the University of South Carolina.
