Rob Steele

Application Architect at WealthForge

Rob Steele is currently an Application Architect at WealthForge. Prior to that, they were a Technical Lead at Markel Corporation from January 2016 to February 2019. There, they led teams of developers in designing and developing a core underwriting platform which generated over $20 million in revenue through external agent and internal underwriter usage. Steele was principally involved in the design and development of the migration from on-site hosted software and services to an Azure cloud-based environment, utilizing Azure functions, CosmosDB, hosted SQL Server, Redis Cache and AppInsights monitoring. This involved learning about the different technologies available and utilizing them within the architecture being developed. Rob also interfaced directly with Microsoft on numerous occasions to facilitate issue remediation and resolution with several of their core offerings. On several occasions, they had to rework design due to underlying gaps in the technologies available. Steele participated in all aspects of the Scrum Methodology, including tweaking the process to better work within the environment of the company. Prior to working at Markel Corporation, Steele was a Sr. Software Engineer at Markel International from January 2013 to January 2016.

Rob Steele has a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a bachelor's degree from Grand River Collegiate Institute.

Their manager is Obie Quelland, Chief Technical Office. They work with Harry Heckel - QA Manager, James Grant - Platform Architect, and Paul Ward - Principal Full-Stack Engineer.
