Alex Slaymaker

Alex Slaymaker has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Alex is currently working as a Strategic Client Success Manager at WeaveGrid, where they manage high-value account relationships and supports the growth of electric vehicle programs for utility customers. Prior to this, Alex worked at Black & Veatch as a Project Manager & Strategy Consultant, providing transportation electrification strategy expertise to large companies and electric utilities.

Alex also has experience in the field of sustainability, having worked at Smart Columbus as the Head of Programs, Sustainability Initiatives. In this role, they led the development and execution of sustainability initiatives, including the Electrify Mobility Initiative focused on vehicle electrification. Alex also served as the Smart Mobility Adoption Manager, providing technical expertise on electric and shared mobility.

Earlier in their career, Alex worked at the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio as an Outreach Specialist, empowering residents and organizations to participate in the circular economy. Alex also worked at Arizona State University, where they served as an Online Curriculum Developer & Professor, Research Assistant, Sustainability Journalist, President & Co-founder of a zero waste group, and Teaching Assistant for sustainability courses.

Additionally, Alex worked as a Project Assistant at Global Sustainability Solutions Services, contributing to the creation of an Urban Forest Master Plan for the City of Tempe. Alex also served as the Chief Intern at the Department of Public Services, where they conducted research and provided recommendations on addressing illegal dumping in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Alex's early experiences include working as a Research Scholar for the Appalachia Ohio Zero Waste Initiative at the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, and as a Resident Assistant and member of the Sustainability Committee at Ohio University.

Alex Slaymaker has a Master's Degree in Sustainable Solutions from Arizona State University, which was obtained from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, Alex earned a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning and Policy from Ohio University, attending from 2010 to 2014. In terms of additional certifications, Alex obtained a Professional Certificate in Sustainability Strategy from Arizona State University in 2021. Alex also holds various certifications, including being a Level II Candidate for the FSA Credential from SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) since May 2021, completing the GRI Certified Training Program from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in October 2015, becoming a Living Building Ambassador from The Living Future Institute in April 2015, and achieving Green Associate certification from the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) in June 2014.
