Burton DeWilde has worked in a variety of roles since 2001. From 2001 to 2005, they were a freelance photographer and a teaching assistant at El Instituto Educativo Secundario Hernández Pacheco in Cáceres, Spain. From 2003 to 2007, they were a computer lab supervisor and teaching assistant at Kalamazoo College. From 2007 to 2011, they were a math tutor at Community Advocates for Parents and Students and a co-producer, cameraman, and editor for the feature-length, physics-themed zombie movie "Decay" filmed on-site at CERN. From 2011 to 2012, they were a data scientist at Harmony Institute and an item writer for Physics I with Lab at New Charter University. From 2012 to 2015, they were a senior data scientist and data scientist for products at Chartbeat. Burton currently works as a data science engineer at WeaveGrid.

Burton DeWilde attended Stony Brook University from 2007 to 2012, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics. Prior to that, they attended Kalamazoo College from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Physics and Spanish.
