Derrick Houger

Derrick Houger has a long history of working in software engineering, beginning in 2008 with VMC as a Tester. Derrick then worked at Run Studios from 2009 to 2013 as a Software Development Engineer, Wimmer Solutions from 2013 to 2014 as a Software Development Engineer, Launch Consulting Group from 2014 to 2019 as a Software Development Engineer (Universal Storefronts) and Software Development Engineer (Xbox Live Events), Protiviti from 2019 to 2020 as a Software Development Engineer, Insight Global from 2020 to 2021 as a Software Development Engineer, and currently works at BlackBoxStocks, Inc. as a Software Engineer since 2021. At BlackBoxStocks, Inc., Derrick works in a small team of developers implementing features and improvements to the Blackbox Stocks webapp (BBS), and contributes to bug testing and fixes. Their work is primarily done in Javascript/HTML, AWS, MySQL, and React/Typescript. At Insight Global, Derrick worked on custom Azure DevOps build automation that utilized legacy Ubuntu distributions and custom scripts to run builds and tests. At Protiviti, Derrick worked on the Xbox Advanced Technologies Group, making individual contributions to internal tools, participating in sprint planning, tasking, documentation, and testing. At Launch Consulting Group, Derrick made individual contributions to the ONEPlayer in the Universal Storefronts organization, primarily focused on accessibility, UI, and interactivity, and worked on several projects centered on live streaming and VOD playback with interactivity. At Wimmer Solutions, Derrick worked with a team under SQL Server on procurement and asset management tools used for tracking budgets and managing servers. At Run Studios, Derrick wrote a ASP. NET web application, with a back-end SQL server, that was used to track the location of thousands of video assets and generate reports for the encoding pipeline.

Derrick Houger has been working in software engineering since 2008. Derrick Houger attended Bellevue College from 2006 to 2008, where they earned transfer credits in Computer Software Engineering. Derrick then attended the University of Phoenix from 2009 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Software Engineering.
