Julie Rawe, CPACC, is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in content strategy and accessibility. Currently serving as the Director of Content Strategy and Accessibility at Understood.org since 2013, Julie has also held roles as Associate Director of Editorial Strategy and Special Projects Editor, where notable contributions include innovative approaches to content usability and accessibility. Julie co-leads the Clear Language initiative for W3C, working on guidelines for clear language use within the Cognitive and Learning Disabilities Accessibility Task Force. Previously, Julie refined editorial strategies at Time Magazine, achieving significant increases in unique site visitors and organic search traffic while overseeing various sections of the publication. A graduate of Princeton University with a B.A. in English, Julie’s editorial career began with local reporting and culminated in senior editorial roles encompassing both writing and fact-checking.
