Martin Maier started their work experience in 2006 as an intern at Henkel, where they worked in project management and benchmarking. Martin then interned at Sal. Oppenheim in M&A and retail & consumer goods. In 2007, they were an intern at BDO Deutsche Warentreuhand AG in auditing and financial advisory. Martin joined Detecon (Schweiz) AG in 2009 as a business analyst. In 2012, they joined Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, first as a financial analyst, then as a team lead in planning & steering, and later as the CFO of China (ad interim). In 2018, they moved to iptiQ by Swiss Re as the head of financial planning & analysis. Most recently, in 2022, they joined wefox as the Head of Insurance Controlling.
Martin Maier has a strong education background in the field of finance and banking. Martin obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from Maastricht University between 2003 and 2006. During their time there, they also participated in an exchange program at Singapore Management University in 2005, where they focused on subjects such as investment banking and economic developments in Asia.
In 2007, Martin went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Banking and Finance (MBF HSG) at the University of St.Gallen. Martin completed this program in 2009, gaining expertise in finance, banking, and accounting. As part of their master's degree, they also participated in an exchange program at The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 2008. During that period, they focused on subjects such as financial reporting and statement analysis, restructuring, and real estate.
In addition to their formal education, Martin also holds a certification as a Level III CFA Candidate from the CFA Institute, which they obtained in 2016.
