Sameer Halai

Sameer Halai has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Sameer is currently the Chief Executive Officer at wehealth, where they lead the development of an all-hazards platform for emergency response and public health benefit. Prior to this, Sameer served as an Entrepreneur In Residence at AiiM Partners, a fund that invests in companies addressing climate change. Sameer also co-founded Covid Watch, a non-profit organization that provides anonymous and decentralized alerts for COVID-19 exposure.

Sameer's previous roles include Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer at Jirav, a company that connects financial and operational data for forecasting and analysis. Sameer also worked as an Impact Investment Consultant at The Schmidt Family Foundation, focusing on philanthropic efforts in science, energy, and sustainability. As a Co-Founder & Chief Design Officer at SunFunder, Sameer contributed to the expansion of solar energy as a cleaner and more affordable source of power.

Earlier in their career, Sameer held the position of Director of User Experience at Limeade, an online wellness company, and worked as a Product Manager at Microsoft, where they contributed to the development of new social and real-time experiences for home and work use. Sameer also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Michigan, conducting research on remote scientific collaboration, and as a Technical Support person specializing in Microsoft Windows at SI Computing.

Sameer's experience in designing features for Windows Live Messenger and their work on the Many-Eyes project at IBM demonstrate their expertise in product development and enhancement. Throughout their career, Sameer has consistently played a key role in developing innovative solutions and addressing complex social and environmental issues.

Sameer Halai completed a Master of Science in Information (MSI) degree with a focus on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Social Computing from the University of Michigan - School of Information. Sameer attended this program from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai, where they studied from 2000 to 2004.

In addition to their formal education, Sameer Halai has obtained several certifications in Machine Learning. Sameer received a certificate in Machine Learning: Classification from Coursera Course Certificates in July 2016, a certificate in Machine Learning: Regression in April 2016, and a certificate in Machine Learning Foundations: A Case Study Approach in February 2016.
