Steve Young has over two decades of work experience in various roles within the healthcare industry. Steve currently serves as the Vice President for Federal Healthcare at WellHive since January 2022. Prior to this, from 2019 to 2023, they held the role of President at Steve Young and Associates LLC.
In their earlier roles, Steve worked at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as the Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Operations and Management from June 2016 to January 2019. Here, they provided senior executive leadership for the national healthcare system and oversaw 18 Veterans Integrated Service Networks across the United States.
Before that, Steve served as the Director/Chief Executive Officer of the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System from June 2009 to June 2016. Their responsibilities included executive leadership for a high complexity tertiary VA medical center and a system of 10 clinics located in Utah, southeastern Idaho, and eastern Nevada.
Steve also served as the Deputy Network Director at the VA Sunshine Health Care Network from August 2005 to June 2009. In this role, they served as the Chief Operating Officer for a VA healthcare delivery system consisting of hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and domiciliaries across Florida, southern Georgia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Earlier in their career, Steve held the role of Associate Medical Center Director at both the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital from May 2002 to August 2005 and the VA Medical Center from December 1998 to May 2002.
Overall, Steve Young has extensive experience in executive leadership and healthcare management, with a focus on providing care to veterans and optimizing healthcare delivery systems.
Steve Young earned their Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa, where they studied from 1979 to 1984. Later on, they pursued a Master's degree in Public Services Management from DePaul University, attending from 1989 to 1992.
