How we started

The Wells Academy grew out of ESP Training and Consultancy, a company set up by Neville Wells in Istanbul in 1999. Working with multinationals and large local companies, ESP grew into the largest provider of corporate language solutions in Turkey. In 2010 ESP opened a language school in the centre of Istanbul catering to adults and professionals. The school also operated as a test centre for Cambridge BULATS and Pearson Versant.

How we got to where we are

In 2020 with the onset of the Pandemic, all of ESP’s work moved online and the idea of widening the geographical scope of operations through the Wells Academy became a reality. The new company began trading in the UK at the end of 2021 and now works with students all over Europe and the Middle East. At the same time our language trainers have all become digital nomads and are now scattered all over the world.

Where we are NOT going next

Although we are bigger and better than we have ever been, the Wells Academy will never become a mass market one-size fits all provider of English as a foreign language.

Where we are going next

Through all of our services we will continue to help our clients work more effectively in English. We will also continue to use the latest products and technology and work with the best people in order to do our job better.
