Derek Tan

Derek Tan is the current Executive Director, Head of Infrastructure & Simulation at WeRide. Derek has over 4 years of experience in this role and is responsible for overseeing the company's infrastructure, simulation, cloud computing, big data, deep learning, 3D visualization, eng productivity, tooling, data center, and operating system. Derek and their team work tirelessly to deliver the best technology possible.

Prior to their role at WeRide, Derek was the Tech Lead Manager / Staff Software Engineer for Google's Project Fi - Cellular Connectivity. Derek was in charge of the Project Fi data service and helped the team receive recognitions such as "Project Fi was the only one to get a top mark for its data service, on factors that include cost, speed, and reliability." by Consumer Reports and PcMag Readers' Choice of Best Wireless Carrier in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Derek has a wealth of experience in data pipelines, data quality, algorithms, mobile development, and people management.

Derek Tan has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science from Sun Yat-Sen University.
