The West Coast Space Centre (WCSC) project is the brainchild of Tasmanian technologists slash science communicators Mars and Paris Buttfield-Addison. In this, they plan to establish a small science centre and community space in Strahan, Tasmania that is focused on STEM outreach. By focusing on the topic of space and astronomy, WCSC can showcase a science for which Tasmania is world-renowned, and make it clear to young people that opportunities to do cutting-edge science exist right here on the island.

WCSC is a few years away yet, but Mars and Paris are hard at work saving funds, making connections, handling paperwork, and collecting artifacts. If you think you have something to offer the project—time, funds, ideas, expertise, anything—get in touch!
