Catherine Read

Catherine Read has had a diverse range of work experiences. Catherine started their career as a Zipline Guide at Beanstalk Journeys in 2009 and later worked as a Bike Mechanic at UNCA Bike Shop. Catherine also worked at UNCA Math Lab as an Assistant Tutor and at UNCA Outdoor Programs as a Trip Leader and Trip Supervisor. Catherine then worked as a Marketing Intern at Blue Ridge Hiking Co and as a Climbing Instructor at Climbmax Climbing Gym. Catherine also worked at Chestnut as a Hostess, Food Runner, and Busser. Catherine's most recent role was at Western EcoSystems Technology (WEST), where they worked as a Statistician Technician, Programming Analyst, and Associate Data Scientist. Catherine is currently serving as the Software Development Team Lead at WEST. Prior to that, they were a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Colorado State University, where they taught Calculus 1 for Engineers.

Catherine Read's education history includes a Master's degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics which they obtained from Colorado State University between the years 2016 and 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Applied Mathematics at the University of North Carolina Asheville, where they studied from 2011 to 2015. Additionally, Catherine obtained certifications in Wilderness First Responder and CPR from the NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute in January 2013 and December 2011, respectively.
