Bryan Hemberg

Bryan Hemberg is a senior director at WestEd, leading the Assessment for Learning initiatives, which focus on enhancing educational outcomes through innovative assessment design and policy implementation. With over 20 years of experience, Hemberg has held progressive roles, notably as the Director of the Center for Standards, Assessment, and Accountability, where strategic partnerships and the development of high-quality assessment systems were key focuses. They started their career as a special education teacher with Teach for America, demonstrating a commitment to educational equity and effective support for diverse student populations. Hemberg holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan and an MA in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University.
