Derek Lowry

Derek Lowry serves as a Senior Justice Technical Assistance Specialist at WestEd since April 2024. With a diverse background, Derek has held various project management roles, including at DL People's Construction LLC, where project completion within scope and budget was prioritized, and at Propel Philanthropy, where infrastructure for a philanthropic campaign was developed. Previous experience includes managing federal funding portfolios at the Vera Institute of Justice, providing technical assistance for justice reinvestment initiatives at Community Resources for Justice, and advising on Second Chance Act federal grants at The Council of State Governments Justice Center. Derek's earlier roles encompass research and policy development at The Sillerman Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy, a graduate fellowship at the U.S. Department of Education, and leadership in reentry initiatives. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Public Policy Analysis from The Heller School at Brandeis University and a PMP Certification from the Project Management Training Institute.
