James Ball is an experienced aviation professional and legal expert with a diverse background in piloting and law. Currently serving as the Chair and Canadian Representative of the Legal Committee at IFALPA since November 2019, James collaborates with international pilot unions on legal matters pertinent to pilots. As a First Officer on the Boeing 737 with WestJet and a former Captain of the Dash-8-400, James brings substantial flying experience. Previously, James represented WestJet Encore pilots on the Negotiating Committee for the Air Line Pilots Association and worked as a legal advisor for Pacific Coastal Airlines. With a legal background that includes positions at Whitelaw Twining Law Corporation and Alexander Holburn Beaudin + Lang LLP, James holds a JD from Dalhousie University and a BA in Geography from McMaster University, along with a Diploma of Aviation and Flight Technology from Seneca Polytechnic. James also authored a guidebook for Canadian pilot training.
