Ara Erickson

Vice President Corporate Sustainability at Weyerhaeuser

Ara Erickson has a diverse work experience in various roles related to sustainability, organizational change, and forestry research.

From 2012 to the present, Ara has been with Weyerhaeuser, starting as a Sustainability and Communications Manager. In this position, they were responsible for company-wide sustainability reporting and assisting with the implementation of specific sustainability goals and projects. They then moved on to become an Organizational Change Manager, where they led the company through a transition in their headquarters location and managed various aspects of the project. Ara then took on the role of Senior Manager for Sustainable Supply and Value Chain before eventually becoming the Director of Corporate Sustainability. In this position, they led Weyerhaeuser's sustainability program, setting the direction for the company's sustainability strategy and representing the company in external standard-setting processes.

Prior to Weyerhaeuser, Ara worked at Forterra as the Green Cities Director from 2008 to 2012. They managed the Green Cities team, working with municipalities to implement community-based programs for urban forest and greenspace care. This involved budgeting, staff supervision, and maintaining funding.

Before Forterra, Ara worked as a Forestry Research Consultant at the University of Washington's College of Forest Resources from 2005 to 2010. And prior to that, they were a Staff Specialist at ENSR International in 2004.

Overall, Ara Erickson has extensive experience in sustainability leadership, organizational change management, and urban forestry program implementation.

Ara Erickson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Management from the University of California, Berkeley in 2000. They further pursued and obtained a Master of Science degree in Forest Resources with a focus on Urban Forestry from the University of Washington from 2002 to 2004.
