Whare Āwhina is a Māori provider of social support and community law services for whānau in Te Taitokerau, offering a safe, welcoming space where people are valued, respected, and supported.

Our kaupapa places whānau wellbeing and aspirations at the heart of everything we do. With over 30 years of service to the community, we walk alongside individuals and families with a whānau‑centred, tikanga‑based approach that empowers, uplifts, and honours mana.

From our Community Café in the heart of Whangārei to our services in Kaikohe, we provide free legal advice, community law support, housing navigation, WINZ assistance, tailored wellbeing plans, and a busy Social Supermarket. These services ensure whānau have access to kai, advocacy, and practical help when they need it most.

Our vision, "A Just Society: Mauri tū, mauri ora!" guides us to challenge injustice, inspire change, and lead innovation for our community. Our values, of Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga, Kotahitanga, and Rangatiratanga shape every interaction and every decision we make.

Whare Āwhina is committed to honouring He Whakaputanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, building strong, connected communities where whānau can thrive, collaborate, and pursue their aspirations with dignity and confidence.
