Tony Payne

Tony Payne is an accomplished music educator and arts administrator with extensive experience in concert series management and music program direction. As the General Manager of the Wheaton College Artist Series since 1993, Tony leads a renowned concert series, while also serving as Director of Special Programs at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music since 1983, where responsibilities encompass facility planning, event coordination, and donor engagement. Additionally, Tony holds an academic position as an Associate Professor of Music, focusing on composition, songwriting, and music technology. Previously, Tony directed music at the First Baptist Church of Wheaton for two decades, overseeing worship and music arrangements. Tony's contributions to the Illinois Arts Council as a Presenter's Panel Member further demonstrate a commitment to fostering the arts. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Music from Northwestern University, a Master of Music from Bowling Green State University, and a Bachelor of Music from Wheaton College, all specializing in Music Composition.
