Richard Smith is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in embedded systems and power management. Currently serving as Principal Embedded Engineer at WHOOP since June 2013, Richard previously held the position of Director of Embedded Engineering at the One Laptop Per Child Foundation from October 2006 to June 2013, where responsibilities included managing the design of battery management systems and collaborating on the development of the OLPC XO laptops. Prior to that, Richard gained valuable experience as a Design Engineer at Bitworks, Inc. from 1997 to 2006, focusing on various microprocessor-based projects, and as a Software Developer at Superior Industries, Inc. from 1996 to 1997, where Richard automated defect identification in aluminum wheels. Richard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Arkansas, completed in 1995.
