WIA Philanthropy is a pan-African platform dedicated to advancing the economic development of Africa through the support and scaling of women leaders and entrepreneurs.

Since its creation, WIA has supported more than 25,000 women entrepreneurs across the continent through training, mentoring, advocacy, networking, and strategic partnerships.

At WIA, we believe that African women are not only drivers of economic growth — they are catalysts for innovation, inclusion, and long-term transformation across the continent.

WHY WIA?

• Women are at the heart of Africa’s economy. Africa has the highest rate of female entrepreneurship in the world. According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), nearly one in four women in Sub-Saharan Africa is involved in entrepreneurship. (Source: African Development Bank)

• Women reinvest up to 90% of their income into the education, health, and well-being of their families and communities, creating a powerful multiplier effect for society. (Source: African Development Bank)

• Gender inequality is estimated to cost Africa nearly $95 billion per year — representing a major barrier to inclusive economic growth. (Source: McKinsey)
