Julissa Navichoque, MS, serves as an Adult and Family Therapist at Women In Distress of Broward County, Inc. since October 2019, specializing in providing individual therapy to survivors of domestic violence with a focus on trauma and anxiety. Prior experience includes working as a Mental Health Counselor at Active Community Health Center, where group therapy sessions were conducted for clients with various mental health disorders, and facilitating social skills activities to aid in daily living. Julissa also worked as an ABA Therapist at Butterfly Effects, demonstrating a genuine interest in supporting children with Autism and ADHD, and held an internship as a Mental Health Counselor at Above All Recovery Center, which focuses on addiction treatment and recovery. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, a Bachelor’s degree in General Psychology from the University of Phoenix, and an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Broward College.

Women In Distress is the only nationally accredited, state-certified, full service domestic violence center serving Broward County, Florida. Our mission is to stop domestic violence abuse for everyone through intervention, education and advocacy.We strive to accomplish this mission through a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter program, individual counseling, support groups and professional trainings which are aimed at educating the community on domestic violence. Our confidential services are offered free of charge to victims of domestic violence no matter their age, gender, race or socio-economic status.
