Software Engineer at Wildlife Computers

Etan Bard has been working in the software engineering field since 2013. In that year, they started as a Computer Science Lab Assistant at the University of Puget Sound, where they explained challenging topics to students, assisted over 25 students understand and solve bugs in their Java code, and encouraged students to use proper coding practices and syntax. In 2014, they moved to Bargreen Ellingson as a Software Engineer, where they developed REST web services using Java to interface the company's website with backend servers and databases, built complex search and sales analytics REST web services via Hibernate ORM and Hibernate Search/Lucene, and engaged with users to collect requirements for projects and translate their feedback into improvements. In 2018, they joined Jobscan as a Software Engineer and Data and Backend Engineer, where they used Apache POI to extract text formatting information from Microsoft Word .docx files, built complex search REST web services via Hibernate ORM and Hibernate Search/Lucene, and created REST web services which handle the transformation of resume files between different document formats. In 2021, they moved to Wildlife Computers as a Software Engineer.

Etan Bard attended the University of Puget Sound from 2010 to 2014, earning a Bachelor of Science with a major in Computer Science, a major in Japanese Language and Culture, and a minor in Mathematics.
