Palmer Yu

Director at Wildtype

Palmer Yu has been working in the field of biotechnology since 2012. Palmer started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Gladstone Institutes, where they worked on converting cardiac fibroblasts into cardiomyocytes in vivo in a pig model. In 2019, Yu joined Wildtype as a Director and Principal Scientist, leading the cell line development and cell differentiation team. Palmer is also in charge of improving biomass yield of suspension culture, thereby dropping the cost of producing cells.

Palmer Yu received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biotechnology from Peking University between 2001 and 2005. Palmer then went on to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison between 2005 and 2011.
