John Baxter is a member of the Board of Trustees at the Scottish Association for Marine Science and has been actively involved in marine ecology throughout their career. They served as Principal Adviser at Scottish Natural Heritage from 1989 until retirement in 2018. Currently, John holds honorary professorships at both the University of St Andrews and Heriot-Watt University while also serving as Chief Editor for the journal Aquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems since 1998. Additionally, they have been the Vice Chairman of the Ocean Acidification International Reference User Group since 2005. John is pursuing a BSc in Zoology and a Doctor of Philosophy in the biology of Lepidochitona cinereus at the University of Dundee.
