John Wilson is an accomplished leader in geographic information sciences, serving as the founding director of the USC Spatial Sciences Institute and the Wilson Map Lab at the University of Southern California. They are a professor in spatial sciences and sociology, teaching a variety of geospatial courses, and have developed successful online GIS graduate programs. In addition, Wilson is the editor-in-chief of Transactions in GIS and actively contributes to the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science. With a commitment to fostering collaboration across disciplines, they have worked alongside graduate students to publish over 135 scholarly works and continue to advance the field through innovative research and education.
