James Lu has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. James began their career as a Software Engineer at Willowglen Systems in 2008, where they were responsible for developing software for SCADA and automation. James later joined the Software Development Team where they implemented a web application client interface for the Unisen Intelligent System CPU. James then gained experience in technical field services, deploying and supporting the Unisen product. James also served as a Front End Software Architect, making key design decisions for the SCADACOM product. As a Software Development Team Lead, they established processes, trained junior developers, and provided direction to the team. In their current role as a Senior Manager of Software Engineering, James continues to build high-performance teams and instill a culture of discipline and hard work. Prior to joining Willowglen Systems, they worked as a Junior Software Developer at Meta4hand Inc., contributing to the development of their first product SynapBridj.

James Lu completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Alberta from 2001 to 2006. In addition, they obtained various certifications including Agile Foundations from LinkedIn in August 2022, Leadership Training for Managers Course ELTM469 from Dale Carnegie Training in March 2022, CITC 819 - Managing remote teams from NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) in January 2022, Requirements Elicitation & Management -EXBA 5688 FA1 from the University of Alberta in October 2019, Emotional Intelligence and Project Management from Pryor Learning Solutions, parent company of Fred Pryor Seminars/CareerTrack in 2017, and the APEGA P-Eng Certification from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in June 2011. James also has additional certifications in Basic Supervision from Pryor Learning Solutions and Coach 1 from Hockey Canada, but the specific dates are unknown.
