Carla Risso

Carla Risso is an experienced microbiology professional with a strong background in biotechnology and biological sciences. Currently serving as the Director of Microbiology at Windfall Bio since November 2022, Carla focuses on harnessing methane, a potent greenhouse gas, for energy production using innovative bacteria. Previously, Carla held principal scientist positions at Birch Biosciences, LLC, and Absci, where efforts included technical leadership in high throughput screening and protein therapeutic development. Additional roles include senior scientist positions at Zymergen, Inc., and Calysta, with significant accomplishments in microbial physiology and the engineering of methanotrophs. Carla's academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the National University of Rosario, and valuable teaching experience at the same institution.
