Lead UX Researcher at Wing

Mathis Lauckner has a diverse work experience in the field of UX research. Mathis started their career as a UX/CX Intern at Daimler AG in 2008, where they collaborated with a team of researchers on qualitative research in Automotive. Mathis then worked as a Student Research Assistant at IEA Data Processing and Research Center Berlin, conducting data collections via questionnaires at primary schools.

In 2012, Mathis joined Bosch as a UX Researcher in Human-Robot Interaction, where they managed a range of research methods and mentored interns and grad students. Mathis also had a brief stint at Bosch North America, leading UX-related questions for the local robotics research team in Silicon Valley.

Mathis worked as a Freelance Design Researcher for service robots at USEEDS GmbH in 2016, and as an Experience Researcher for digital products, they led research initiatives for multiple teams/projects and promoted a human-centered design process. During their time at Volkswagen of America, Inc, starting in 2017, Mathis served as a Senior Design Researcher, focusing on inclusive design for autonomous driving.

Recently, Mathis has been a Certified Professional Coach at the Co-Active Training Institute, where they developed coaching skills to navigate conflict, design responses, and facilitate self-discovery.

In 2021, Mathis joined Wing, an Alphabet subsidiary, as the Lead UX Researcher. Wing is a drone delivery service, and Mathis is responsible for shaping the future of delivery through their research.

Mathis Lauckner obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Psychology from Leuphana Universität Lüneburg in 2008. Mathis then went on to earn a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Human Factors from Technische Universität Berlin, completing their studies in 2011. In 2016, Mathis Lauckner obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Human-Robot Interaction from Technische Universität Berlin. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Design Leadership from Cooper in 2018 and as a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) from the Co-Active Training Institute in 2023.
