Richard Black is an experienced nutrition professional and executive with a diverse work background spanning several organizations. Richard started their professional career as Head of Research, Nutrition at Novartis Consumer Health in 1999. Richard then moved on to International Life Sciences Institute, North America, where they served as Executive Director from 2001-2005. From there, they joined Mondelēz International, where they served as VP Nutrition and Chief Nutrition Officer in two stints spanning from 2005-2013 and 2012-2013, respectively. Richard then moved on to PepsiCo, where they held the position of VP Global Nutrition Sciences from 2013-2016. In 2016, they served as Executive Partner, R&D CPG at Pilot Lite Ventures, and as a Principal at Quadrant D Consulting. From 2017 onwards, they served as Adjunct Professor at the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University and as Chief Nutrition Advisor at both Care4ward and Thrive365. Richard currently holds the position of Chief Scientific Officer at WISEcode.
Richard Black obtained their high school diploma in General Studies from Erindale Secondary School in the year 1977. Richard attended McMaster University from 1977 to 1989 and acquired a BSc in Chemistry in 1981 followed by a BSc and PhD in Psychology in 1985 and 1989 respectively. Richard completed another BSc in Psychology from McMaster University in the years 1983 to 1985.
