The Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute is one of the largest research institutes of the University of the Witwatersrand.

Our strength lies in our multidisciplinary and holistic approach. We identify health problems through sound epidemiological methods and qualitative research, use a range of analytic and research methods to generate evidence, then test and evaluate interventions in a real-world setting. We furthermore provide technical assistance, advocacy and capacity building to ensure effective implementation and, finally, translate evidence into policy.

The Healthcare and Research Team at The Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute focuses on addressing critical public health issues related to HIV, sexual and reproductive health, and vaccine-preventable diseases. The team, comprising a Nimart Nurse Lead Community, Researcher, Pharmacist specializing in Implementation Science, and Counsellor, works collaboratively to identify and analyze health problems, develop and test interventions, and translate research findings into effective policies. They also provide technical assistance, advocacy, and capacity building, particularly targeting marginalized and hard-to-reach populations, to ensure the practical implementation of health solutions.
