Derek Heid

Derek Heid is a skilled multimedia journalist currently working at WKBW-TV since July 2023, focusing on coverage of crime, politics, and live events. Previously, Derek served as a multimedia journalist at NBC 24 from June 2022 to May 2023, where similar topics were reported. Additional experience includes roles as a public address announcer for Moon Area School District, a broadcaster for Big Ten Network Student U, and a sports programming intern at SiriusXM. Derek's reporting experience is complemented by a summer sports reporting internship at Centre Daily Times and a role as an on-air personality and manager for the podcast AAF Analyzed. Derek holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Penn State University and graduated from Moon Senior High School with a high school diploma.
