When one of the most highly regarded global engineering and construction companies of the last 100 years closed its Chicago office, in 2012, it spelled unexpectedly good news for the power, mining, and industrial processing industries.

That’s because the firm’s most seasoned engineers and managers seized the opportunity to start a new company, Wolf Point Engineers & Contractors, which had all the expertise of its predecessor in engineering, procurement, and construction of bulk material handling systems—plus something never seen before.

By teaming with one of the premier steel fabricators in North America, North Alabama Fabricating Company (NAFCO), Wolf Point became the only engineering and contracting firm to offer in-house steel fabricating and detailing. This has afforded Wolf Point’s clients—from utilities to fertilizer manufacturers to other engineering firms—unprecedented scheduling flexibility and, in the process, forever changed the definition of “one-stop EPC shopping.”
