Andrew de Laix

Director Of Distributed Systems Engineering at Wolfram

Andrew de Laix has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Andrew is currently the Director of Distributed Systems Engineering at Wolfram Research, Inc., where they manage multiple development teams and is responsible for setting the engineering direction and priorities for large scale distributed systems.

Prior to this, Andrew worked as a Development Manager at Wolfram Technologies, where they managed the engineering team responsible for cloud products like Wolfram One and Mathematica Online. Andrew was also the primary liaison with external teams and coordinated support for the production and development of these cloud products.

In addition, Andrew has experience as a Senior Software Engineer at Linden Lab, where they worked on core improvements for the Second Life virtual world, and at Forterra Inc as a Senior Software Engineer. Andrew also worked at Cemaphore Systems, Inc. and Replicus Software Corporation as a Senior Software Engineer.

Andrew's work experience includes roles such as a Founder at the Okinawan Karate Club of Madison, where they practice and teaches traditional Okinawan karate.

Andrew'searlier experience includes working as a Software Engineer at Wolfram Research, Inc., where they were the lead developer and product manager for A New Kind of Science Explorer, as well as contributing to the development of new products based on Mathematica technologies.

Andrew de Laix received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Arizona in 1991. Andrew then pursued a PhD in Physics at The Ohio State University, completing their studies in 1995.
